Corrective Action
Definition: The first required element of a Plan of Correction, describing the specific actions taken by the facility to address the identified deficiency for residents who were directly affected by the noncompliance.
In Practice
Corrective actions must be specific, concrete, and verifiable. They should describe who did what, when, and what the outcome was. Actions for directly affected residents should already be completed by the time the POC is submitted. Vague corrective actions are the most common reason POCs are rejected.
