Medication Regimen Review (MRR)
Definition: A thorough evaluation of a resident's complete medication regimen by a licensed pharmacist to identify potential irregularities, including unnecessary medications, drug interactions, duplicate therapy, and dosage concerns.
In Practice
Federal regulations require monthly medication regimen reviews for every resident. The pharmacist must report irregularities to the attending physician, who must act on the report within a defined timeframe. Failure to conduct timely reviews or act on recommendations is a common deficiency.
