Exit Conference

Definition: An informal meeting held at the conclusion of a survey where the survey team discusses their preliminary findings with facility leadership. The exit conference is not an official notification of deficiencies.

In Practice

The exit conference provides the facility's first indication of potential deficiencies. Findings discussed may change before the final CMS-2567 is issued. Experienced administrators use the exit conference to begin preparing their POC response and gathering supporting documentation.
